Our Dorper Sheep
We focus on raising our sheep for parasite resistance, hardiness, good mothering, and fast-growing lambs. We have been working with Dorpers for over a decade now and have been impressed by their resilience and hardiness.

The Dorper breed originated in South Africa in the 1940s. They are well known for their ability to thrive despite a range of conditions with African flocks surviving in the desert!
Dorpers are a hair variety and shed off their winter coats on their own. Because of this, they are much lower maintenance than wool varieties.

They are non-selective grazers and excellent foragers.
They tend to be very even tempered.

Dorper ewes are known for being good mothers and having ample milk production.
They have excellent fertility and are able to have off season lambs.

The lambs grow quickly and have an excellent feed conversion ratio.
They are also very parasite resistant.

If you haven't tried the meat, you need to! Dorper meat is known for its delicious mild taste.
